5th Davao Mega Travel Sale Slated

Now in its 5th year, the Davao Mega Travel Sale will be held this March 7 to 9 at the Activity Center of Abreeza Mall in Davao City.

The event will be participated by licensed travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, hotels, resorts and destination promotion agencies.

The Davao Mega Travel Sale will serve as a venue for major industry players in the travel and tour industry to launch new services, products or establish new marketing connections.

Arnold King, president of the Davao Travel Agencies Association (DTAA) said that the public can avail of cheaper tour and travel packages during the event. He said that traditional outbound destinations like Singapore and Hongkong are still tops among the preferred foreign destinations.

King said that new destinations are being offered in the Travel Sale particularly a tour package to the hermit country of North Korea which has opened to tourism just last year.

The participants will also offer tour packages for Davao, hoping to help in promoting Davao to the tourism market.

Pia Montano, board member of the DTAA said that normally the sale will have 50 to 60% discounts on tour packages though this will be dependent on airfare sales by airlines, determined a week before the festival.

The 5th Davao Mega Travel Sale will also have their Search for Mr. and Ms. Travel Ambassadors 2014 to be participated by eight tourism schools in Davao.

Aside from airline ticket sales and tour packages the activity will also have visa and passport processing services, hotel bookings and travel accessories sale.

The Davao Mega Travel Sale will precede the much anticipated Big Davao Fun Sale which will happen this March 14 to April 16 and is touted as the country’s first city-wide shopping sale participated by Davao City’s top malls. (PIA/RG Alama)
