Dive for Earth Day is calling all divers and volunteers to join an amazing event on April 22 while helping make a difference.
Under the theme, "Protecting the Underwater World," the event is an extraordinary opportunity to take action that help address the water issues and numerous threats including pollution, climate change, overfishing and coral bleaching.
The Catalyst for Filipino Youth Development (CFYD) and Project AWARE Foundation partner for the said event organizing a coral reef monitoring, beach and underwater mapping cleanup and AWARE kids activities.
Divers, snorkelers, families, ordinary citizens and interested participants can help make a difference for local dive sites by calling Christopher YbaƱez, CFYD President, at 0919-8173295.
"Underwater volunteers are on the front lines taking action and collecting data for conservation," said Henrik Nimb, Project AWARE Foundation Asia Pacific Director.
Thousands of diver volunteers in more than 115 countries have helped protect underwater environments and educate local communities for Project AWARE's Dive for Earth Day.
"Protecting the ocean preserves the planet including us."
Furthermore Nimb added, "This year is the 40th anniversary of the Earth Day and we encourage everyone to commit to improving the health of our ocean." Dive for Earth Day is one major event in celebration of Earth Day?s 40th anniversary.
Earth Day has raised environmental awareness on a global scale for 40 years. For 10 years divers have put the ocean on the Earth Day map. (CFYD)
