Flag carrier Philippine Airlines will utilize its Boeing B777-300 fleet for its Manila - New York (JFK) flights in order to increase seat capacity on the route, enhance the inflight passenger experience and ensure product consistency across all US Mainland services.
By October 26, 2015, PAL will shift to the 370seater (42 business /328 economy) state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient B777s from the 254-seater Airbus A340s as operating fleet for long-haul operations between the two cities, with a Vancouver stop-over.
PAL President & Chief Operating Officer Jaime J. Bautista said, "Using the B777 to the US Mainland enables us to achieve our goal of operating our long haul flights efficiently and economically. With this shift, passengers on the route will experience PAL’s trademark Filipino service in the comfort of the modern B777.”
B777-300 ER's business class cabin is equipped with individual reading lights, laptop charging port and USB port for passengers to listen to their personal mp3 collection or view photos and files.
The seats, which can be adjusted to full flat recline with a 15 degree angle, are outfitted with a 15.4in. seatback mounted and 10.6in in-arm touch-screen personal television.
Seats on economy class, which have an actuating seat pan enabling the seat bottom cushion to be moved up or forward to support the body when relaxing, are outfitted with a 9in. seatback mounted and in-arm touch-screen personal television.
Passengers also get to enjoy wifi-fi connectivity through the PAL iNaIR service which allows one to call, text and surf the net even above 30,000 feet.
At present, PAL utilizes B777s for its San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Toronto operations as well as select regional and international routes.
The flag carrier is taking delivery of two additional units, slated to arrive in October and December 2016, respectively.
Based on PAL's winter timetable for the period October 25-31, PR 126 departs Manila every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11:50PM and arrives in Vancouver at 8:50PM (local time).
The flight departs the Canadian city at 10:50PM (local time) and arrives in JFK at 7AM (local time) the following day.
Its return flight - PR 127 - departs JFK at 10AM every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and arrives in Vancouver at 1:15PM (local time).
Departure from Vancouver is at 2:30PM (local time) and arrival in Manila is at 7:30PM the following day.
From November 1 - March 12, PR 126 departs Manila at 12:50AM and arrival in Vancouver is 8:50PM (local time). Departure from Vancouver is at 10:50PM (local time) and arrival in New York is at 7AM (local time) the following day. PR 127 (Nov1-Mar12) departs JFK at 10AM (local time) and arrives in Vancouver at 1:15PM (local time). The flight departs Vancouver at 2:30PM (local time) and arrives in Manila at 8:30PM the following day.
From March 13 onwards, the flight schedule reverts back to October timings.
