Various visual and performance arts, skills training among others will highlight this province’s celebration of Arts Month this February called 'Vizcaya Sining Bida'
Marichelle Costales, supervising tourism officer said the opening of the arts month celebration and exhibit will be on February 7 featuring works of local artists at the Art Gallery of the People’s Museum.
A 3-day Museo Eskwela from February 11-13 will also be conducted at the People’s Museum which will feature a video presentation on the Tabak-cloth-making and dance of the Kankanaey.
A scriptwriting and shadow contest dubbed ‘Manok-Aninong Dulaan” will be opened for high school students that will focus on Nueva Vizcaya legends/folklore.
A ‘Madrilena’ folkdance contest will also be offered for elementary schoolers per municipality on February 12 at the People’s Stage , provincial capitol and the Musikahan sa Araw ng Puso in celebration of the hearts’ month on February 14 at the Tribu Village, provincial capitol.
On February 15, at the People’sMuseum, the Larong Pinoy Challenge and Jollibee Kids Workshop featuring Sungka, Patintero, Sunay, party games and art workshop for kids will be offered for elementary schoolers with a registration fee of P100.00.
For photography stsrters, a Basic Photography and Basic Post Processing Workshop will be conducted for 20 participants at the AVR, People’s Museum on February 20-21 and the 5-kilometer Museum-IGAN Fun Run on February 21 at the provincial capitol baywalk to Provincial Museum.
“The benefit run which will exact a minimal fee of P50.00 from the participants will be used to purchase glass case for museum collections,” Costales said.
As a prelude activity for the Ammungan Festival in May, the launching of the Ammungan Beat Contest will be opened for all interested participants, the deadline will be on February 28 and contest pieces should be submitted at the Provincial Tourism Office (PTO).
The contest aims to create a beat to be used for the street dancing competition and Grand Ammungan Festival 2014. The winning beat will be used throughout the festival.
The launching of the Ammungan Logo Making Contest (open to all) will also be held which aims to create a logo that best suit or describe Nueva Vizcaya’s Ammungan Festival. The winning logo shall be used during the festival. Deadline of the contest is on February 28.
On the same date, the Nueva Vizcaya Craft Making Contest will be opened to all to create a souvenir item/token that best describe the province. Wiinign entries will used as tokens of the province during important events and activities. The deadline will be on February 28.
A exhibit dubbed Art Feb@ NVSU.GOV.PH, a month-long exhibit on literature and visual arts by students from the Nueva Vizcaya State University(NVSU)- Bambang campus at its Administrative Building from February 3 to 28 will also highlight the Arts Month celebration.
The CineMaria Film Festival will also be shown from February 17 to 21 at the St. Mary’s University(SMU) AVR in Bayombong.
From February 1 to 28, an Arts Jamboree will be held which will culminate on February 28 that will highlight Special Program in the Arts for Students at the Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School(NVGCHS) in Bayombong town. (Benjamin Moses M. Ebreo/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
