The provincial government of Zamboanga del Norte is already preparing for its 62nd Founding Anniversary on June 6, 2014 with “Saulog” highlighting the event.
Saulog is a Visayan term for celebration, replacing the “Hudyaka Festival” of the previous administration.
This celebration, it was learned, departs from lavish and meaningless merrymaking activities spearheaded by the previous leadership to celebrate the province’s founding anniversary.
Saulog is now a perfect occasion to recognize all accomplishments and achievements of the province’s two cities and 25 municipalities as well as civil society organizations which have contributed to building better Zamboanga del Norte, said acting Provincial Tourism Officer Joshua Bicoy.
“The current administration wants to focus on the integration and coordination of various initiatives under one development framework of the provincial government, which can be summarized a total human development coupled with enhancement of infrastructure for socio-economic progress,” he added.
A number of activities have been lined up starting May 29 until June 6, 2014 to commemorate the creation of the province in 1952 by virtue of Republic Act 711, with the “Halad Pasalamat” or thanksgiving mass.
There will also be an agri-industrial fair to showcase the different agricultural/commercial products of each town/city.
